Standing 76 meters tall with six floors and 240 steps leading to panoramic city views, it was once Portugal's highest structure, featuring elaborate granite carvings, a large bronze bell, and an iron cross atop its summit.
Built from 1754 using donations, it symbolized religious devotion amid Porto's historic center—a UNESCO site—serving as a lookout, weather station, and landmark despite wartime damage and later restorations.
