Tvrđava Badnjavice
Postranje, Croatia, Croatia
Tvrđava Badnjavice, also known as Badnjevice Fortress, is a medieval fortress located above the Suvaja Canyon near Postranje and Proložac in Croatia's Dalmatian hinterland.
The fortress was built during the 14th and 15th centuries and remained in use until the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century. Constructed on steep, hard-to-reach cliffs, the fortress was designed for defense and surveillance. It consists of multiple fortified levels connected by walls, with a prominent tower positioned high above the canyon that provided wide views of the surrounding landscape.
Today, the ruins are considered one of the most impressive medieval fortifications in Dalmatia and are protected as a cultural heritage site. The dramatic canyon setting and the fortress's historical significance make it an important landmark for visitors interested in Croatian history and architecture.
