Ursa Beach
Portugal, Portugal
Ursa Beach, also known as Praia da Ursa, is a small, dramatic beach in the Sintra municipality of Portugal, near the famous Cabo da Roca cape on the Lisbon coast.
It is often described as one of Europe’s most westerly and secluded beaches, reached by a steep, winding dirt path down from the cliffs, which adds to its hidden, wild feel. The beach is dominated by striking rock formations, including a large bear‑shaped cliff that gave the beach its name, and offers a narrow strip of sand backed by towering orange‑gold cliffs and the open Atlantic Ocean.
Swims are possible but can be challenging due to strong waves and cold water, and the area is popular with hikers and photographers who enjoy the rugged coastal scenery, although it has no lifeguards and limited facilities, making it best suited for experienced or cautious visitors.
