Wonderland Sydney
Australia, Australia
Wonderland Sydney, originally opened in 1985 as Australia’s Wonderland, was a large amusement park in Eastern Creek, about 40 km west of central Sydney in New South Wales.
It was the biggest theme park in the southern hemisphere when it opened, featuring hundreds of rides and attractions spread across themed areas such as Goldrush, Medieval Faire, and Hanna‑Barbera‑branded children’s zones with characters like Yogi Bear and the Flintstones.
The park’s signature ride was The Bush Beast, a massive wooden roller coaster that was among the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, alongside other major coasters like The Demon. Wonderland Sydney also added a seasonal water park called The Beach and an Australian wildlife section, but it closed in 2004 after nearly two decades of operation and is now remembered as Sydney’s last major dedicated amusement park.
