Angola
Angola is a large country located on the west-central coast of southern Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Namibia, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The capital and largest city is Luanda. Angola’s population is roughly 34 million. Portuguese is the official language.
Angola is rich in natural resources, including oil and diamonds, but much of the population still faces poverty due to a long history of civil war and political instability. The country has varied landscapes, from coastal plains to rainforests and highlands. Luanda is an important port and commercial center. Angola gained independence from Portugal in 1975.
