Central African Republic
The Central African Republic (CAR) is a landlocked country in the heart of Africa, bordered by Chad, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, and Cameroon. Its capital and largest city is Bangui. The nation covers about 620,000 square kilometers and is home to approximately 5.4 million people.
The CAR is rich in natural resources like diamonds, gold, and uranium, but remains among the poorest countries globally. The population consists of over 80 ethnic groups, and the official languages are French and Sango. Since independence from France in 1960, CAR has faced cycles of instability, armed conflict, and political upheaval, most notably in the ongoing civil war that began in 2012.
