Dominica, officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an eastern Caribbean island nation located between Guadeloupe and Martinique. Its capital is Roseau. The country covers about 750 square kilometers and is mountainous with lush rainforests.
Dominica is known as the "Nature Island of the Caribbean" due to its rich biodiversity, including rare species such as the imperial amazon parrot. The population is around 71,000. It was colonized first by the French and then by the British, before achieving independence in 1978.
