Arboretum de Xertigny
Xertigny, France
The Arboretum de Xertigny, also known as the Arboretum du Château des Brasseurs, is a 4-hectare municipal park located around the Château des Brasseurs in Xertigny, France.
It was established in 1994 to protect and preserve the park originally created in 1888 by Victor Champion, a local brewery owner who imported trees from North America, Asia, and California. The arboretum features several notable specimens such as a giant California sequoia and North American Douglas fir, alongside fruit trees and ornamental flower beds.
Visitors can enjoy peaceful walks along shaded alleys lined with European hornbeams and explore the adjoining Beaudoin forest with its ponds and picnic areas, once used to harvest ice for beer storage. The park is open year-round, free to enter, and serves both as a botanical collection and a recreational green space in the heart of the town, blending natural beauty with local history.
