Armação dos Búzios, commonly called Búzios, is a coastal resort town on a small peninsula in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, about 170–173 kilometers east of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

It began as a quiet fishing village and remained largely unknown until the 1960s, when French actress Brigitte Bardot’s visit turned it into a glamorous getaway for Rio’s elite and later an international beach destination. The town sits on an 8‑kilometer‑long peninsula with more than 20 distinct beaches, such as Ferradura, Geribá, João Fernandes, and Azeda, ranging from calm, sheltered bays on the west coast to lively, surfy stretches on the ocean side.

Today Búzios is known for its year‑round warm climate, turquoise waters, upscale restaurants and boutiques along Rua das Pedras, and a polished yet relaxed beach‑vacation atmosphere that attracts both Brazilian and foreign visitors.
