Balsac
France, France
Balsac is a small commune located in the Aveyron department in southern France, about 10 kilometers northwest of Rodez and near the Rodez–Marcillac Airport.
The area is historically notable for its landmarks, including the ruins of the old Priory of Sauvage dating back to the 13th century and the Château de Balsac, a 14th to 16th-century castle that has been owned by various noble families. The château is now used as a guest house and table d'hôte. The local parish church contains several historical items. The inhabitants of Balsac are known as Balsacois.
In January 2017, Balsac merged with the neighboring commune Druelle to form the new commune Druelle Balsac. The region is part of the Marcillac wine-growing area and features a mix of historical architecture and rural French countryside charm.
