Bukit Shahbandar Forest Recreation Park is a 234‑hectare protected forest and hiking area in the Jerudong area of the Brunei–Muara District, about 15 kilometers from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. It sits along the coast road near the Empire Brunei hotel and features a grassy ridge with nine hills rising roughly 119–143 meters above sea level, connected by a network of trails of varying difficulty that are popular with joggers, hikers, and mountain bikers. The park was originally developed from a former cattle farm, with jogging and hiking paths built in the 1980s and full recreational development completed in 1998 to meet growing demand for outdoor leisure in Brunei. Within the forest you find native kerangas woodland, plantations of Caribbean pine and Acacia mangium, patches of rainforest, and wildlife such as long‑tailed macaques, along with simple facilities like a pond, children’s play areas, light workout equipment, observation towers with views over the city and coastline, and small refreshment stalls.
