Burg Wogendrüssel
Prudnik, Poland, Poland
Burg Wogendrüssel, known historically in Polish as Zamek w Prudniku, was a Gothic defensive-residential castle in Prudnik, southern Poland's Opole Voivodeship, built around 1255 by Czech knight Wok of Rosenberg in a bend of the Prudnik River to control trade routes.
The fortress featured thick walls, a prominent cylindrical tower called Wieża Woka (41 meters tall with several-meter-thick walls), additional wings expanded by 1744, and strategic defenses amid changing ownership from Piasts to Habsburgs.
Destroyed by Hussites in 1428, rebuilt after Prussian conquest, it burned in 1806 and was mostly demolished by 1844, leaving only the iconic Wieża Woka tower as its enduring remnant.
