Casa Loma
Toronto, Canada
Casa Loma in Toronto, Canada, is a grand Gothic Revival-style mansion built between 1911 and 1914 as the home of financier Sir Henry Pellatt. Designed by architect E.J. Lennox, it was the largest private residence in Canada at the time, featuring 98 rooms with modern amenities such as electric lighting, a central vacuum system, an elevator, secret passageways, and an enormous kitchen.
The mansion includes elaborate stone and brick facades, twin towers, lavish interiors with fireplaces, a vast library, and beautiful gardens spanning five acres. Pellatt lived in Casa Loma until financial difficulties forced him to leave in the 1920s. Since then, the mansion has served as a museum, event venue, and popular filming location.
It remains a key historic and architectural landmark in Toronto, attracting many visitors each year. The estate also houses stables, now a vintage car museum, and an 800-foot secret tunnel connecting the main building to the carriage house.
