Château de Freundstein is a ruined medieval castle located high in the Vosges Mountains near Goldbach-Altenbach in the Haut-Rhin department of northeastern France.

Built in the late 13th century, it was associated with the Waldner von Freundstein family and occupied a strategic position overlooking the surrounding region. Over the centuries, the castle suffered damage from conflicts, the 1356 Basel earthquake, fires, and a lightning strike, leading to its eventual abandonment in the early modern period.

Today, only ruins remain, but the site is valued for its historical significance, scenic views, and hiking opportunities. Situated at roughly 927–948 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest castle ruins in Alsace and has been officially protected as a historic monument since 1922. During World War I, its elevated location was also used as a military observation post.
