Verified Château de Montribloud

Saint-André-de-Corcy, France

The Château de Montribloud is a former medieval castle in Saint-André-de-Corcy, France, originating in the early 14th century when Humbert V built a fortress on a mound. Over the centuries, it was enlarged and transformed by successive owners, notably the Covet family in the late 16th century, who converted it into a Renaissance residence with distinctive mullioned windows.

Later, in the 18th century, the Nicolaus family rebuilt parts of the château in a neoclassical style with formal French gardens. In the 19th century, the Bodin family introduced slate roofs and remodeled the gardens in the English landscape style, giving the château much of its current appearance.

Today, the property remains privately owned by the Bodin family and is generally closed to the public except on special occasions like European Heritage Days. The château's brick construction is typical of the Dombes area where it is located, around 30 minutes from Lyon. It is also used for private events such as weddings or banquets.
