The Château de Tournoël is a medieval fortified castle located in Volvic, France, perched on a rocky mountain spur about 594 meters above the Limagne plains.

It was first mentioned in the 11th century and played a strategic role overseeing the royal town of Riom and the Mozac Abbey, protecting these key sites for centuries. The castle was owned by important families such as the rulers of Auvergne and later by noble houses involved in various historical conflicts including sieges and battles throughout the Middle Ages.

Its impressive architecture includes high towers, battlements, and a large circular keep with machicolations, signifying its military importance. After centuries of use and decline, it was treated as a quarry for building stones before restoration efforts began in the late 20th century.

Today, Château de Tournoël is a privately owned historic monument open for guided tours, offering visitors both a glimpse into medieval feudal life and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding volcanic landscape and Monts du Forez mountains.
