Château du Hallier
Nibelle, France, France
Château du Hallier is a historic castle located near the village of Nibelle in the Loiret department of the Centre-Val de Loire region of France.
Built mainly during the 16th century, it is notable for its brick-and-stone architecture and its design, which combines features of a fortified medieval castle with those of a more comfortable Renaissance residence. The château was owned by Charles de l’Hospital and is associated with several historical figures, including King Henri IV.
Over time, parts of the building fell into disrepair, and by the 18th and 19th centuries it had been used as a quarry and later as a farm, leaving some sections in ruins. Today, the château remains a striking landmark with towers, moats, and surviving defensive walls. It is privately owned and has been listed as a historic monument since 1967, reflecting its importance as part of the region’s architectural and cultural heritage.
