Château du Haut-Ribeaupierre, also known as Altenkastel, is a medieval castle ruin overlooking the town of Ribeauvillé in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, northeastern France.

Perched at about 642 meters above sea level, it is the highest and oldest of the three famous castles that dominate the area. Its origins date back at least to the 11th century, and it was likely built on the site of an earlier Roman fortification. The castle was closely associated with the powerful Ribeaupierre family and served both as a defensive stronghold and a noble residence.

Throughout its history, it was used to imprison notable captives, including the English knight Sir John Harleston during the late 14th century. Although now largely ruined, the site still features impressive remains, including a circular keep, defensive walls, and traces of the medieval complex. Its elevated position offers spectacular views over the Alsatian Plain, surrounding vineyards, and the Vosges Mountains.
