Château du Vieux-Windstein is a medieval castle ruin located above the village of Windstein in the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace, northeastern France.

Built at the end of the 12th century by the Hohenstaufen dynasty, it was designed to help protect the nearby imperial stronghold of Haguenau and occupied a strategic position on a narrow sandstone ridge. The castle is notable for its semi-troglodytic architecture, with many rooms, passageways, and defensive features carved directly into the rock.

Its remains include a deep rock-cut well, cisterns, traces of a Romanesque chapel, and the foundations of towers and residential buildings. Over the centuries, the fortress was damaged and rebuilt several times. It was destroyed after conflicts with Strasbourg in the 14th century, burned in 1515, and finally reduced to ruins by French troops in 1676.

Today, the castle is a popular historic and hiking destination in the Northern Vosges, offering impressive views over the surrounding forests and landscape. It has been protected as a French historic monument since 1984.
