Châtel-sur-Moselle is a small town in the Vosges department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France, located along the Moselle River between Épinal and Nancy.

It has a population of around 1,700 residents and is best known for its rich medieval heritage. The town grew around a powerful fortress built in the late 11th century by the Counts of Vaudémont. Thanks to its strategic position on important trade and military routes, Châtel-sur-Moselle played a significant role in regional history for centuries.

Its medieval fortress is one of the largest in Lorraine, covering about five hectares and featuring extensive ramparts, numerous towers, and underground galleries. Although much of it was dismantled in 1671 on the orders of King Louis XIV, impressive ruins remain and can still be visited today. Today, Châtel-sur-Moselle combines a peaceful small-town atmosphere with a remarkable historical legacy, attracting visitors interested in medieval architecture, archaeology, and the history of the Lorraine region.
