Copenhagen Castle (Københavns Slot) was a historic fortress built in the late 14th century on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark, on the ruins of Bishop Absalon's earlier stronghold from 1167.
It featured a curtain wall, moat, and a prominent entrance tower later enhanced with a spire by King Christian IV, serving as the main royal residence and government center from the mid-15th century until its demolition in the 18th century to make way for Christiansborg Palace.
Today, the site is occupied by Christiansborg Palace, which houses Denmark's parliament, Supreme Court, and royal reception rooms.
