Cueva de las Golondrinas
Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico
Cueva de las Golondrinas, also known as Cueva de las Golondrinas Beach or Playa La Cueva de las Golondrinas, is a small, picturesque sea cave and beach cove on the northern coast of Puerto Rico in the town of Manatí.
It is reached after a short 15–20 minute hike through the Hacienda La Esperanza Nature Reserve, which winds past sea‑grape trees and coastal vegetation before opening onto a hidden rocky inlet and turquoise pool.
The cave itself leads to a natural swimming area where clear ocean water flows both around and into the cavern, creating a calm spot for swimming and snorkeling, while the name “Golondrinas” (swallows) comes from the small birds that nest and fly around the cliffs and cave mouth.
The site is relatively quiet and less crowded than many mainland beaches, making it a favored spot for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a simple, scenic coastal adventure near San Juan.
