Edwards Gardens
Toronto, Canada, Canada
Edwards Gardens is a 34.4‑acre (about 14‑hectare) botanical and public park in the North York district of Toronto, Ontario, located at 755 Lawrence Avenue East beside Wilket Creek, a tributary of the Don River.
Originally a private estate developed in the 1940s by businessman Rupert Edwards, the site features a mix of manicured upper‑level gardens with perennials and roses, a valley section with wildflowers, rhododendrons, and an extensive rockery, plus fountains, ponds, and small waterfalls along the creek.
The municipalities purchased the land in 1955 and opened it as a public park in 1956, and it now functions as a free, dawn‑to‑dusk green space with an arboretum, teaching gardens, and close ties to the adjacent Toronto Botanical Garden, which occupies part of the same grounds and offers classes, tours, and contemporary themed gardens.
