English Bay is a sheltered bay on the southwest coast of British Columbia, Canada, forming part of the outer Burrard Inlet just west of downtown Vancouver.
It stretches from the Stanley Park headland in the northeast to the northwestern tip of Point Grey, with its shoreline touching neighbourhoods such as the West End, Kitsilano, and West Point Grey, and it opens toward the Strait of Georgia. The bay is best known for its lively English Bay Beach, a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming, and watching sunsets, and it hosts major events such as the annual Celebration of Light fireworks competition and the Vancouver Pride Festival.
The surrounding area also offers extensive waterfront trails, including sections of the Vancouver Seawall, plus nearby beaches like Sunset Beach, Kitsilano Beach, Jericho Beach, and Locarno Beach that together make English Bay one of the city’s main waterfront recreation zones.
