Frijsenborg Slot
Hammel, Denmark, Denmark
Frijsenborg Slot, a grand manor house near Hammel in Denmark's Favrskov Municipality, originated as the Jernit estate built in 1583 and was transformed after Mogens Friis acquired it in 1672, becoming the center of Denmark's largest county until 1922.
Architect Ferdinand Meldahl redesigned it in Renaissance style between 1859 and 1867 for Count C. E. Krag-Juel-Vind-Frijs, creating an impressive structure amid expansive grounds that remain one of Denmark's largest private landholdings today.
Located 27 km northwest of Aarhus at Linen 62, it features a moated castle-like facade visible from surrounding roads and forests, managed for agriculture and forestry.
