The Funafuti Conservation Area, located on the western side of Funafuti Atoll in Tuvalu, is a protected marine reserve covering about 33 square kilometers of lagoon, coral reefs, ocean waters, and six small uninhabited islets.
Established to conserve the atoll’s rich biodiversity, the area provides habitat for colorful reef fish, corals, seabirds, and nesting sea turtles, including the green sea turtle. Known for its crystal-clear waters and pristine natural environment, it is one of Tuvalu’s most important conservation sites.
A popular destination for snorkeling, boating, birdwatching, and experiencing the unspoiled beauty of the Pacific. The conservation area protects roughly 20 percent of Funafuti Lagoon's coral reef system and plays a vital role in preserving Tuvalu’s fragile marine ecosystems for future generations.
