The Funafuti Marine Conservation Area, also known as the Funafuti Conservation Area or Kogatapu Conservation Area, is a protected marine reserve on the western side of Funafuti Atoll in Tuvalu.
Covering about 33 square kilometers of coral reefs, lagoon waters, ocean channels, and small uninhabited islets, it was established to protect the region’s unique marine and coastal ecosystems. The area is home to diverse coral reefs, tropical fish, seabirds, and nesting sea turtles, making it one of Tuvalu’s most important conservation sites.
Its clear waters and rich biodiversity also make it a popular destination for snorkeling, boating, wildlife observation, and appreciating the natural beauty of the Pacific.
