Galibi Nature Reserve, located in the northeastern Marowijne District of Suriname along the Atlantic coast, is renowned for its pristine beaches and important role as a nesting site for several species of sea turtles, including the green sea turtle and the giant leatherback.

Established in 1969, the reserve protects about 2,500 hectares of coastal forest and beaches, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness the turtles’ nesting and hatching cycles up close during the season from April to August. The reserve is managed with close involvement from the local indigenous Carib (Kalina) community, and tourism here focuses on eco-friendly experiences that support conservation efforts and respect the natural environment.

Visitors can enjoy tranquil beaches, unique wildlife encounters, and cultural experiences with local communities, all while helping sustain the area's ecological balance.
