Gut Krummendiek
Germany, Germany
Gut Krummendiek is a historic manor estate in Kleve, Steinburg district, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, originating from a 13th-century fortified seat at the "krummen Deich" (crooked dike) along the Bekau River, which named the local noble family and village.
Destroyed by Swedish forces after the Thirty Years' War around 1657, its owners relocated to a nearby farmstead (Lütjenrahde) where Heinrich von Meurer built a new castle-like manor in 1744-1745 with ramparts and moats, later rebuilt in neoclassical style from 1812-1814 featuring a porticoed main house, gatehouse, barn, and cattle barn around a lawn oval.
Owned by families like Hammerstein, Meurer, Holst until 2017, it remains an active agricultural property and protected monument exemplifying regional Gutshof architecture.
