The Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens is a 6-acre botanical garden located on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, at 32 University Avenue, considered a popular tourist destination in the Annapolis Valley.
The gardens consist of nine native habitats representing the Acadian Forest Region, all featuring native plant species to the region, along with additional features including a Medicinal and Food Garden, public Conservatory, formal Walled Garden, Herbaceous Border, and Experimental Garden.
Designed as a place where nature, research, and technology come together to promote conservation and sustainability, the gardens function as a living gene bank for the native flora of the Acadian Forest Region, supporting researchers dedicated to recovering and protecting endangered plant species.
The entrance is located off University Avenue to the far left of the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre main entrance, marked by a cast iron archway featuring the gardens' name, and the conservatory and indoor research greenhouses are open to the public daily from 8 AM to 10 PM while the gardens themselves are open daily from dawn until dusk (weather permitting, closed when winds exceed 50 km/hour).
