Honiara
Guadalcanal Province, Solomon Islands
Honiara is the capital and largest city of the Solomon Islands, located on the northwestern coast of Guadalcanal in Guadalcanal Province, along the mouth of the Mataniko River facing the sea.
It serves as the country’s main port, administrative center, and hub for government, commerce, and transport, handling much of the trade in coconuts, timber, fish, and some gold from nearby Gold Ridge. Although the city itself is now a separate capital territory, it remains the provincial capital of Guadalcanal and is home to the national government buildings, Honiara International Airport, markets, and a rapidly growing but still relatively small urban population.
