Jackson Park
Windsor, Canada, Canada
Jackson Park is a beloved public park located at 125 Tecumseh Road East in Windsor, Ontario, south of downtown, that has been considered one of Windsor’s most beautiful attractions since it was acquired in 1929 and named after then-mayor Cecil E. Jackson.
The park is most famous for its magnificent formal gardens featuring more than 10,000 plants, including the Queen Elizabeth II Sunken Gardens where visitors enjoy hundreds of tulips in May followed by summer perennials and lush annuals, along with ornamental fountains throughout.
Beyond its gardens, Jackson Park is a well-equipped sports facility home to the Windsor Lawn Bowling Club and Windsor Stadium, offering baseball diamonds, soccer and rugby fields, basketball and tennis courts, a cricket pitch, batting and cricket cages, and a playground with a splash pad. The park contains several notable war memorials including World War II, Korean War, South African War, and Land Sea Air memorials, plus replicas of a WWII Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft at the center as a memorial to war veterans.
During winter months, Jackson Park hosts Bright Lights Windsor, a popular Christmas light display that attracted over 105,000 visitors in the 2025-2026 season from November 28 to January 7, and the park reopened to the public in February 2026 after the festival installations were removed. Additional features include the Copernicus Sundial, Robert Burns Memorial, fountains, walking trails, drinking fountains, parking, and washrooms, making it one of Windsor’s most intricate and versatile parks.
