Jardin Botanique Roger-Van den Hende
Quebec City, Canada, Canada
The Jardin Botanique Roger‑Van den Hende, also known as the Jardin universitaire Roger‑Van den Hende, is a 6‑hectare public botanical garden in Quebec City, located on the grounds of Université Laval in the Sainte‑Foy–Sillery–Cap‑Rouge area.
Opened in 1978, it showcases nearly 4,000 plant species and cultivars arranged by botanical family, including a strong collection of native Quebec plants, ornamental introductions from Europe, North and South America, and Asia, plus special sections such as a water garden, a rose garden, an ericacetum, a rhododendron and hydrangea area, a herbacetum, and an arboretum.
The garden was originally created as a teaching and research site for the university but now functions as a calm, free‑entry public green space with clearly labeled plants, educational activities, seasonal flower displays, and modern sculptures, open daily from May to October for walks, photography, and nature‑based relaxation in the heart of the provincial capital.
