Kliczków Mały
Poland, Poland
Kliczków Mały is a small village in central Poland's Łódź Voivodeship, within Sieradz County and Gmina Brzeźnio, first documented in 1392 under owner Jaśko z Kliczkowa and later divided into "Mały" (Old) and "Wielki" (New) settlements.
Owned by noble families like the Kliczkowscy, Wiktorowscy, Tarnowskis (from the mid-16th century), and finally Wierzchlejskis after 1930, it featured a manor house surrounded by a moat and was a key estate including nearby hamlets amid agrarian lands.
The 1764 wooden Church of St. John Nepomucene, founded in 1590 by Sebastian Tarnowski with Baroque interiors, late-Gothic crucifix, and family tombs—including revolutionary Ignacy Sariusz Tarnowski—survived wartime desecration, a 2017 fire, and recent renovations alongside a historic larch manor now restored as lodging.
