Krąg
Poland, Poland
Krąg is a small village in northwestern Poland's West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Koszalin County within Gmina Polanów, situated near the Grabowa River amid forests and Castle Lake.
Renowned for its 15th-century knight's castle, first documented in 1495 and built by Adam von Podewils as a residential tower surrounded by a moat, it evolved around 1580 into a Renaissance rectangular structure with four corner bastions under the Podewils family, who owned it for centuries.
Damaged by Soviet forces in 1945, the brick castle with Gothic remnants now operates as the elegant Hotel Podewils, featuring a historic park, beach access, and nearby Baroque church with family tombs, preserving one of Pomerania's finest knightly residences.
