Łańcut Castle
Łańcut, Poland, Poland
Łańcut Castle is a magnificent early Baroque residence in Łańcut, southeastern Poland's Subcarpathian Voivodeship, originally constructed in 1629-1641 by Stanisław Lubomirski as a palazzo in fortezza—a fortified palace—with corner donjons, bastion defenses, and contributions from architects like Maciej Trapola, Tylman van Gameren, and stucco artist Giovanni Battista Falconi.
Transformed in the late 17th century and extensively rebuilt in 1894-1909 by the Potocki family into neo-baroque splendor with bulbous cupolas, modern utilities like running water and electricity, opulent interiors blending classicist, rococo, and neo-Gothic elements, plus expansive parklands, orangery, and carriage museum, it hosted royalty and celebrities.
Now a national museum since 1944, it preserves 365 rooms, original furnishings, and carriages as Poland's premier aristocratic complex amid its historic town setting.
