The Lethbridge Research Centre, now officially called the Lethbridge Research and Development Centre (Lethbridge RDC), is a major federal agricultural research facility operated by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Lethbridge, Alberta, and it was established in 1906 as one of Canada’s earliest experimental farms.

It is one of the largest facilities within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s national network of research centres, with researchers focused on sustainable production systems suited to Alberta’s climate and projects that benefit Canadian farmers, the agriculture industry, and Canadians overall. The centre is located at 5403 1 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4P4, and also uses a PO Box 3000 address, with a fax number of 403-382-3156, and it works under the Corporate Management Branch and Integrated Services in the Central Region.

Over its more than 115-year history, the facility has conducted extensive research on (and accumulated historical records about) southern Alberta agriculture, with a photo archive maintained by the Canadian Agriculture Library that includes over 1,200 historical photos and negatives dating from the early 20th century through the 1970s.

The centre’s research areas include crop production, livestock systems, and sustainable farming practices tailored to the region, and it remains an active part of Canada’s national agriculture research system alongside other Alberta facilities like the Lacombe Research and Development Centre.
