Lower Cheung Sha Beach
Hong Kong, China
Lower Cheung Sha Beach is a long, white‑sand beach on the southern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong, forming the more developed and accessible half of Cheung Sha Beach, widely regarded as Hong Kong’s longest beach.
It lies opposite Upper Cheung Sha Beach, separated by a small headland, and is set within a large, sheltered embayment with views across the sea and nearby hills. The beach is government‑gazetted and patrolled, with relatively good‑to‑fair water quality, changing rooms, showers, toilets, and basic lifeguard services, as well as nearby small shops and restaurants.
Lower Cheung Sha is popular for swimming, sunbathing, and casual watersports, and it tends to be busier than the quieter, more remote Upper Cheung Sha, especially on weekends and holidays.
