Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach
Hong Kong, China
Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach, also known as Tung Wan Beach, is a small gazetted beach located on Ma Wan island in the New Territories of Hong Kong, near the Noah’s Ark theme park.
It is about 140–270 metres long, managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and serves as the only officially gazetted beach on the island, offering views of the nearby Tsing Ma and Ting Kau bridges. The beach has clean sand and basic facilities such as lifeguards during the summer, changing rooms, and nearby restaurants and cafés, making it suitable for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing day‑trips.
Water quality is rated Grade 4 (“poor”), so swimming conditions can be inconsistent, but the tranquil setting and dramatic bridge scenery continue to attract visitors for walks, picnics, and photography, especially at sunrise or sunset.
