Machliny
Poland, Poland
Machliny is a small village in northwestern Poland's West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Drawsko County and Gmina Czaplinek, located about 11 km southeast of Czaplinek amid Drawa National Park's lakeland forests.
Dating to at least the 14th century on the historic Polish-March of Brandenburg border, it features traces of a medieval gord called castrum Machelin near the Dobrzyca River, owned by the Knights Hospitaller and later noble Golcz family, with documented mills, taxes, and boundary oaks from 1361-1564.
The site includes ruins of a knightly manor or small stronghold on Góra Zamkowa, a 1950s highway airstrip, and a preserved 19th-century half-timbered bell tower, reflecting its agricultural past near popular hiking and kayaking areas.
