Maisonseule, located in Saint-Basile, France, is a historic fortress with origins in the 13th century, originally built as a military stronghold featuring a significant keep called the Saint-Louis keep.

Over the centuries, it was expanded and transformed, adding residential wings and defensive elements such as towers and battlements. The castle was home to prominent families like the Sahune and La Gruterie and later passed through various owners before being sold during the French Revolution. In the 19th century, the château became an educational institution that gave rise to the Congregation of the Basilians.

It was abandoned for a time before being restored by French comedian Yves Lecoq in the 1990s. Maisonseule stands on a vantage point overlooking the valleys of Doux and Eyrieux, surrounded by parkland with walking trails. Its architecture displays a layered history visible in its walls, openings, and defensive features.

Today, it operates as a guesthouse with rooms decorated to reflect its rich heritage, welcoming visitors seeking tranquility and historical ambiance.
