Malecón 2000 is a long, modern waterfront promenade along the Guayas River in downtown Guayaquil, Guayas Province, Ecuador, stretching about 2.5 kilometers from Rocafuerte to the south of the city center.

It was built as an urban renewal project on the old Simón Bolívar boardwalk, turning a once‑neglected riverside strip into one of the most visited public spaces in Guayaquil, drawing millions of visitors since its first sections opened in 1999. The malecón combines wide walkways, gardens, fountains, plazas, and recreational areas with shops, restaurants, fast‑food outlets, a shopping mall, and an open‑air funfair that includes a large Ferris wheel and amusement rides.

Along the route, visitors can see historic monuments such as the Moorish Clock Tower and the Rotonda Monument, as well as museums, galleries, a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and river‑cruise docking points that offer scenic trips up and down the Guayas. Managed by the private non‑profit Malecón 2000 Foundation, the area is regarded as a model of urban regeneration and a lively hub for locals and tourists to stroll, relax, shop, and enjoy river views.
