Media Luna Beach (Playa Media Luna) is a small, crescent-shaped beach on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, located just behind the famous Sun Bay on the island’s northeastern coast.

Known for its soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, it offers calm, shallow waters where you can walk 40–50 feet out and still stay waist-deep, making it especially safe and ideal for families with young children. The beach is protected from strong trade winds and waves by its sheltered bay location, creating a tranquil setting surrounded by sea almond trees and shaded pavilions perfect for picnics.

Managed by the Puerto Rico National Park Department within the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, Media Luna is a quiet, uncrowded hidden gem that attracts visitors seeking peace, natural beauty, and gentle water activities like paddleboarding or kayaking rather than snorkeling. To reach it, you take the ferry from Ceiba to Vieques, rent a vehicle, enter through Sun Bay’s paid entrance ($4), and follow a dirt road past the forest to a fork where you turn right.
