Mikumi National Park, near Morogoro in southern Tanzania, covers 3,230 square kilometers and ranks as the country's fourth-largest park, established in 1964 and bordering the vast Selous Game Reserve to form a continuous ecosystem of savanna plains, miombo woodlands, and encircling mountains like the Uluguru and Rubeho ranges.

Often likened to a "mini-Serengeti" for its open Mkata Floodplain dotted with acacia, baobab, and tamarind trees, it teems with wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and rare species like sable antelope, greater kudu, eland, and African wild dogs, plus over 400 bird species from lilac-breasted rollers to migratory waterfowl. 

Accessible by road from Dar es Salaam, the park offers prime game viewing year-round, with hippo pools, tree-climbing lions, and dramatic sunrises over rocky hills drawing safari enthusiasts to its diverse, unspoiled landscapes.​
