Mouterhouse is a small rural commune in the Moselle department of northeastern France, located within the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park and the historic Pays de Bitche area.

With a population of about 270 residents, it is surrounded by vast forests, streams, and natural landscapes, making it one of the most secluded and sparsely populated communities in the region. The village is particularly known for its rich industrial heritage. From the 17th to the 20th century, Mouterhouse was an important center for ironworking and forges, which played a major role in the local economy and shaped its development.

Covering more than 42 square kilometers, Mouterhouse has the largest municipal territory in the Pays de Bitche area.
