The National Museum in Warsaw, established in 1862, is one of Poland's largest and most important museums, housing a diverse collection of art spanning from ancient times to contemporary works.

Its current modernist building, designed by Tadeusz Tołwiński, was constructed between 1927 and 1938 on Jerusalem Avenue and features spacious galleries for permanent and temporary exhibitions.

During World War II, the museum suffered damage and significant looting by the Nazis, though many artworks were later recovered. The museum is renowned for its extensive Polish art collection, including works from the Renaissance through the 20th century, as well as international masterpieces, decorative arts, and archaeological artifacts.

It remains a key cultural institution dedicated to preserving Poland's artistic heritage and promoting art education.
