Niemodlin is a historic town in southwestern Poland's Opole Voivodeship, in Opole County near the Ścinawa River, serving as the seat of Gmina Niemodlin with around 6,000 residents.
First mentioned in 1224 under Prince Kazimierz I of Opole, it received town rights in 1283, became the capital of the Duchy of Niemodlin from 1313 to 1460 under Piast dukes, and later shifted through Czech, Habsburg, and Prussian control amid wars and partitions.
The town features a prominent 13th-century castle expanded into a Renaissance residence by the Puckler family in the late 16th century, with Mannerist-Baroque elements, cloisters, and a neo-Gothic chapel, now open to tourists alongside its market square and nearby dendrological park Lipno.
