The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, was established in 1967 to celebrate Canada’s Centennial and honor the contributions of Japanese Canadians to the local community.

The 1.6-hectare garden combines traditional Japanese garden design and architecture with elements reflecting the Southern Alberta landscape, featuring hand-built wooden structures such as a teahouse, bell tower, bridges, and gates, all crafted by artisans from Kyoto and reassembled on site.

The garden incorporates natural features like ponds, streams, waterfalls, and carefully selected native rocks from the nearby region, blending Canadian and Japanese cultural elements. Managed by the Lethbridge & District Japanese Garden Society, it serves as a peaceful place for the public to connect with Japanese art and culture, hosting events like tea ceremonies, the Winter Light Festival, and cultural celebrations.

The garden is wheelchair accessible and offers educational exhibits and community programs that highlight its symbolic role as a bridge of friendship between Japan and Canada.
