Obô Natural Park is the largest protected natural area on São Tomé Island and one of the most important biodiversity hotspots in Africa.

Established in 2006, the park protects vast areas of tropical rainforest, cloud forest, mangroves, mountains, and volcanic landscapes, covering a significant portion of the island. The park is renowned for its exceptional wildlife and plant life, including many species found nowhere else on Earth. It is home to numerous endemic birds, rare orchids, unique amphibians, and rich rainforest ecosystems, making it a paradise for nature lovers, hikers, and birdwatchers.

Among its highlights are the dramatic Pico Cão Grande, the island’s highest peak Pico de São Tomé, lush forests, crater lakes, and scenic hiking trails. With its pristine landscapes and remarkable biodiversity, Obô Natural Park is widely regarded as the natural heart of São Tomé and Príncipe.
