Okanagan Lake is a large freshwater lake in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada, stretching about 135 kilometers long and between 4 to 6.4 kilometers wide, with a surface area around 348 square kilometers.
It is a deep fjord lake carved by glaciations, reaching a maximum depth of approximately 232 meters near Grant Island. The lake is fed by several creeks and rivers and drains through the Okanagan River system ultimately connecting to the Columbia River.
Surrounded by fertile land famous for fruit-growing and vineyards, Okanagan Lake is a popular destination for swimming, boating, fishing, and various water sports during the warm summer months. It also hosts over 30 beaches and features two small islands: Grant Island, known as a bird sanctuary, and Rattlesnake Island.
